Finally.
I’ve been paying attention to politics for a while now. I think its very important to do so. Frankly the more I learn and discuss the actions of political leaders in America, the more angry I get. It really is depressing to know and predict this countries future and it’s even more depressing to know that so many Americans including loved ones of mine are blind, complacent and comfortable with the state of this country and possible outcomes that lie ahead. I feel completely helpless. So what do I do to make a difference? Well I’ve been hosting DIY shows for local and touring bands in KC for almost three years now and I feel like this has been making a difference amongst my friends and my community. It really has been my passion. But that has all come to a point where I’m not sure I can do much more to contribute to this scene anymore. There are three things I love about my life right now- my family, my friends, and this music scene. Where do I go from there? Those are the only things I have anymore and the third thing I listed is practically illegal. I’m fucking broke. I have no chance of succeeding in this economy. Not that I would want to anyway. So I have no hope of actually making something more of myself at least in this country. I’m fed up with this government and I wont just sit here and watch my rights and the rights of my loved ones get stripped away. So I’m leaving. Come September I will have no legal ties here and I’m getting a one way ticket to France to join the Foreign Legion. It’s a chance for me to actually make a difference in this world and a way for me to actually set out what I want to do in life. I do love a lot of people here and I’m going to spend the next five or six months making sure all of them know I will miss them. I’ve made up my mind and I don’t forsee anything changing it.
